Koi Fish Pond: Add Colorful Patterns To Your Garden

In anyone’s yard, the KOI fish pond can be a great addition to the garden. The best thing about keeping these ponds is the fact that they are not all that hard to tend to. These type of fish come from the carp family. They have a tendency to grow up to be a pretty good size. Therefore, when you have reached the decision to design a fish pond, it is important to make sure you make it big enough so that the fish will have room to grow.

Each pair of the fish will need to have at least 1,000 gallons of water. If you are planning on keeping ten Koi fish, then you will at least need to have 5,000 gallons of water. When you plan on keeping these fish in a pond that is in your garden, it would be a good idea to put some netting going on the top of the pond. The netting has several purposes.

For starters, the netting is going to prevent the Fish From jumping out of the pond. Koi have a tendency to leap around a lot. This way, you will not have to find your fish laying on the ground out of their habitat.

Secondly, the net is good for keeping those unwanted critters out of the pond. There are many things that are predators to fish. You have neighborhood cats, snakes, insects and bacteria.

The third thing the net will do is make the pond safe. If you have younger children, this will be a protection barrier so that they do not fall in it. It is important to have a net, especially if you have cats of children.

These fish are pretty popular amongst fish owners, because they are not only easy to maintain, they have good ornamental quality. The wonderful patterns and colors on the fish will offer a lot of decoration for you and the visitors who step foot into your yard. If you plan on keeping this type of thing in your yard, then it is important that you always do your research ahead of time. You need to know what they need in order to live and stay happy and healthy.

You could make it even more colorful by adding lilies with white blooms mixed with ones with pink and yellow blooms. In the end, make sure you are ready to do the routine maintenance that is needed when you have a Koi fish pond.
